Jack Black hits it BIG in Gulliver's Travels

The first movie I got to see for 2011. I hardly get a chance to watch one due to my busy schedule with doing sports coverages but I was determined not to pass up on Gulliver's Travels starring Jack Black, Amanda Peet, Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Billy Connolly and Catherine Tate. The movie is based on the novel of the same title written by Jonathan Swift originally published in 1726.

It's obviously a modern day take of the story and whether or not you've read the novel, you'll get an idea of what it's all about -- that's just me, of course. I've always been a fan of Jack Black since I first laid eyes on his film School of Rock in 2003. Right off the bat, Mr. Black didn't disappoint and I was entertained from start to finish. The visuals were very impressive albeit watching it in 2-D. Of course, the 3-D experience would most definitely make a big difference -- literally.

There was no dull moment at all in the movie. The pace of the story was just right and I didn't have any problems keeping up for an almost 2 1/2 hour film. All in all, Gulliver's Travels is definitely a must watch and you won't be disappointed.

Out of 5 coconuts, this one gets 4 in my book.

Gulliver's Travels by 20th Century Fox is still playing in cinemas around the metro (I think).

See y'all in my next movie review(s) -- I hope.
